It is important that the venue is accessible from our base. We are based in Thurlby, near Bourne in Lincolnshire, about 14 miles north of Peterborough, and 10 miles north-east of Stamford. That gives us access to north-south and east-west rail, as well as major roads.
We prefer concerts that are promoted for charitable fundraising. A fee is not always necessary, but it is nice.
We much prefer playing to an audience, than to an empty house, even if there is a fee.
Does the venue have an instrument? If not, we can bring one, so it isn't a deal-breaker, but it is more difficult. A keyboard needs one 13-amp socket.
Heating is absolutely essential in the winter. A toilet, or at least toilet arrangements, are essential all-year round.
We need a performance space about 5 metres across by 4 metres front to back. We need three chairs.
Concerts can be either just under an hour (for a lunchtime or Sunday afternoon, for example), or an evening (with two halves of 30-40minutes plus interval).
